Following my post about mainstream music, I decided to bring out from obscurity the music that is anti‑mainstream in so many ways. It is raw, emotional, and authentic. I begin with a post about rock music by daring, independent, and often young artists (D.I.Y.). Later I will do a separate post about music that defies genres entirely.
On my playlist that I called DIY Rock, I accept music regardless of its production value, provided that the music is original, exciting, and produced with some degree of professionalism or seriousness. The sound may not be the most polished out there, but the musicality overrides production deficiencies in such cases.
I already wrote about the popularity of the rock genre. And the sheer size of the DIY Rock playlist — which I am still trying to keep from exploding — is yet another confirmation that rock is by far ahead of all other genres combined.
News:
Recently, I released a new song that’s very special to me. Back in the day, I spent a lot of time playing basketball, and lately, I decided to write a basketball song — not just any song, but more of a basketball anthem. I think I succeeded. Check it out and let me know if you agree with my game-winning strategy. The style of the song was a very deliberate choice — I see it as a track for a halftime cheerleaders' sexy and energetic war dance.

Final Thoughts:
I am still making the point that every playlist I create is made with one purpose in mind — it is an art collection. Playlists can cover different genres or niches, but each and every one of them is well worth your attention. Just like that, every song on the DIY Rock playlist is special and exciting. I hope you had a good time listening to my music selection and that you will continue listening to DIY Rock and other playlists — all of which you can find at linktr.ee/singingofthesoul.
