As part of the celebration, I have released an…

In today’s post I have decided to announce the birth of a new genre that I’d like to name Thoughtwave. Below I will try to explain what this genre means to me and provide examples of my recent works as…

One of the most frustrating realizations in music production is that there comes a point where further refinement no longer guarantees a better result. Improvements become increasingly contextual rather than universal. A mix that feels more transparent may lose impact…

Today I want to discuss a strange paradox in modern music. Never before has it been so easy to release a song. Never before has such a huge portion of the recorded music catalogue been available to listeners instantly. And…

Today we continue relaxing and discuss loop-based music composition. In fact, every song is a loop in the broad sense—the melody repeats, and the structure has some repetitiveness no matter how hard we try to keep it diverse.

In another…

Hi everyone, my keen readers. As I promised in my last post, this will be a relaxing article. And what can be more relaxing than talking about the summer vibes? I mean that maybe you are from a place where…

In today’s post I want to touch on one important idea that I’ve been thinking about for quite a while. At the same time, I don’t want to claim that nobody else has had a similar thought before or that…

Artists of today – architects of tomorrow – standing firm in our belief in individuality, freedom, and the right to express our artistry, we demand that the old art – dad’s rock, grandma’s pop, and the rest of it –…

It has been a while since Martin Hovden and I started the Rock Pioneer podcast. We have just completed our 2nd season, and now I decided to take a look back at what has been accomplished. In this post, I…

In this post, I decided to describe my experience creating music with AI, namely with Suno.com. I must say it was both exciting and frustrating at times. There were ups and downs, yet overall, it has been an interesting endeavor.…

In this post, I want to give credit to musicians who make and produce instrumental music. Every day, countless instrumental compositions are created, and if we add them up across genres, instrumental music could easily be one of the most…

It seems the year started just a little while ago, and now it’s already coming to an end. Time is flying fast as ever. Lots of ideas, lots of projects, lots of great releases by so many awesome musicians. In…

In this post, I decided to touch on the use of humor in songs. This is clearly not as simple as it may seem. Indeed, you don’t want to make your song a joke or spend hours recording something “laughable.”…

Today we continue exploring anti‑mainstream content in its ultimate form, where music defies genres altogether. From some famous names to completely unknown artists, I will pick songs that all sound unique in their own ways — songs that cannot be…

Following my post about mainstream music, I decided to bring out from obscurity the music that is anti‑mainstream in so many ways. It is raw, emotional, and authentic. I begin with a post about rock music by daring, independent, and…

In today’s post I would like to discuss mainstream content. Often it is oversimplified, overcompressed, and outright boring musically. Yet, there must still be some quality music in that sea of commercially packaged albums, all designed to sound like one…

In this post I decided to touch on a very delicate topic. I want to discuss why people choose to do music.

Not long ago music was utilitarian, it served for rituals, work and other communal needs. With the industrial…

In this post I want to describe playlist creation as an art form. I am not using the word “curating” because in the existing context it has a different meaning. Indeed, curating means choosing what goes on and off the…

In this post I would like to share my observations about the most popular genres of music. I will base my ranking on my experience curating many playlists in various genres. Since the time I started doing it, I have…

In this post I will explore music that is suitable for playing sports or exercising in the gym. Indeed, every sport has its own rhythm, level of intensity, and dynamics, among many other characteristics. As a result, not every music…
