Today we continue exploring anti‑mainstream content in its ultimate form, where music defies genres altogether. From some famous names to completely unknown artists, I will pick songs that all sound unique in their own ways — songs that cannot be easily pigeonholed. That is why I decided to title this post Fringe, after my playlist.

On my Fringe playlist, I accept music of any genre, provided it is very original, sounds different, and musically is far left of center, so to speak. Keep an open mind and you will be pleasantly surprised.
News:
SOCAN, ASCAP and BMI announced they have each adopted policies to accept registrations of musical compositions partially generated using artificial intelligence (AI) tools. These works can now be registered directly with the individual societies.
All three PRO registration policies allow the registration of musical works where AI has been used to assist or augment human expression. These works will be included as part of the full repertories licensed by each society. Musical compositions that are entirely created using AI tools are not eligible for registration with any of the individual societies.

Final Thoughts:
I find it very admirable when artists challenge the norms and create something different — or even uniquely weird. In the end, this is what art is truly about: creating things that make sense even when they don’t. Repeating what others have done and falling in line with commercially marketable products is more of an industry than art, even when the music is well performed.
Sometimes we seek a safe haven and want to hear familiar sounds when we are not in the mood for surprises. Other times, your soul craves something new and wild. When you find yourself in that state of mind, you can listen to my Fringe playlist — and you will find exactly what you were looking for.
